The Associate Director of Ubisoft Games stated that in the coming time, more “Assassin’s Creed” works will adopt the “dual protagonist” mode.

Since the announcement of “Assassin’s Creed: Shadows”, the latest installment in the “Assassin’s Creed” series, the black protagonist Yasuke and the “dual protagonist” mode have sparked significant controversy. Many players speculate that Ubisoft will abandon the “dual protagonist” mode in the future. Recently, Simon Lemay-Comtois, the game’s associate director, stated in an interview with GamesRadar+ that the controversies surrounding “Assassin’s Creed: Shadows” will not make Ubisoft back down from using the “dual protagonist” mode.
Simon Lemay – Comtois also mentioned that for future Assassin’s Creed series works launched by Ubisoft, if the narrative and world – view design are reasonable, there is still the possibility of continuing to adopt a similar structure, or even using the “dual protagonist” mode.
Simon Lemay-Comtois also mentioned that in fact, “Assassin’s Creed: Shadows” would spark controversy due to the presence of the two protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe, which Ubisoft had anticipated. After all, similar controversies arose with the release of “Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate” because of the two protagonists, Evie Frye and Jacob Frye. However, the contrast between Yasuke and Naoe is so great that the “dual protagonists” controversy caused by “Assassin’s Creed: Shadows” is even more pronounced.
It is worth mentioning that when addressing the controversy over the “dual protagonist” system in *Assassin’s Creed: Shadows*, it did not directly mention that this controversy arose because some players launched racist attacks on the special character Yasuke. However, Marc-Alexis Côté, the executive producer of the *Assassin’s Creed* series, had previously stated that the reason for such controversy was “attacks driven by prejudice” from some people.
